About the Designer

Sunda to Sahul was designed by Don Bone. He splits his time between his half time job at Mediaware Solutions doing research on digital video software technology, working with his wife Linda on her business Dynamic Stationery, his own research, and more recently, indulging his interest in game design.

Not surprisingly the Bone family play board games on a regular basis, particularly the German board games such as Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, Medina, Torres, Tikal, the style of which have had an obvious influence on the design of Sunda to Sahul.

Don was born in rural NSW, coming to Canberra to study and eventually earning a Ph.D. in physics from ANU. Game design has been a long term interest for Don, although this is the first commercial game he has designed. He started work on the game after leaving CSIRO about 3 years ago, where he worked as a research scientist in the Division of Mathematical and Information Sciences.
